On Saturday, May 31, we participated in the DUI Walk in memory of Ashley Bender and Erika Mattern, two beautiful girls whose lives were cut short on August 9, 2005 at the age of 12. Our group had 62 walkers present, which I think is astounding! Ashley's dad, Jeff, ran 6 miles--the rest of us walked 1 mile. I think it is important to remember their lives, and I think it's also important for the families to know we will never forget their beautiful daughters.
